08.10.2026 : Session on Drug Abuse and Gender Based Violence at St.Xavier's Girl's High School, Bengaluru. Organised by Kristu Jayanti School of Law.
The School of Law, Kristu Jayanti University, Bengaluru, through its Legal Aid Clinic, organised “Nyaya Bodha,” a Legal Awareness Programme, on 8th October 2026 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Francis Xavier Girls High School, Frazer Town, Bangalore.
The resource person for the programme was Adv. Archana, Legal Awareness Coordinator, who addressed the students on the legal and social implications of drug abuse and gender-based violence. The programme began with a discussion on constitutional values, fundamental rights, freedoms, and fundamental duties, emphasising the importance of being aware of one’s rights and responsibilities as a citizen. It then focused on two significant social issues: drug abuse and gender-based violence. The session aimed to create awareness about the importance of understanding legal rights, personal safety, and the laws designed to protect individuals from abuse and exploitation.
The programme was highly interactive, with students actively participating and asking numerous questions. The discussion covered a wide range of issues, including the functioning of legal and social systems, the role and responsibilities of politicians, personal safety, and the measures available to address violence and substance abuse. The students showed considerable interest in understanding how the legal system responds to these challenges and how individuals can seek help when their rights are violated.
Adv. Archana encouraged the students to be aware of their rights, develop responsible attitudes, and approach social problems with confidence and awareness. The interactive nature of the session provided an opportunity for students to express their doubts, share their perspectives, and gain practical insights into contemporary social and legal issues.
Overall, the Nyaya Bodha Legal Awareness Programme was informative and engaging. There was a meaningful skit performed on the theme of the programme by the students of Kristu Jayati College. The programme reflected the commitment of the School of Law and its Legal Aid Clinic to promoting legal literacy and social responsibility among young people.
