LEGAL AWARENESS
The law is often wrapped in jargon, but at its heart, it is about people - their rights, responsibilities, and the ways they live together. Legal awareness becomes meaningful when it reaches classrooms, workplaces, and community spaces, reminding us that justice is not distant, but part of daily life.
Through workshops and conversations, we explore legal rights, civic duties, and the everyday issues that shape our society. These sessions are not about heavy lectures, but about making space for questions, dialogue, and shared learning. Because when people begin to see the law as part of their everyday lives, they stop feeling like outsiders to justice and start becoming active participants in change.
LATEST LEGAL AWARENESS PROGRAMMES
An interactive session on Constitutional Values was conducted at St. Joseph’s College of Commerce, Bengaluru, on 18 August 2026, with around 250 students.
Adv Archana and Adv Shraddha from Dhwani Legal Trust were invited as the resource persons. The session focused on Fundamental Rights, Fundamental Duties and DPSP, highlighting values of equality, liberty, justice and dignity. Students actively participated by sharing personal experiences of rights violations, helping connect constitutional principles with real-life situations and understand the importance of both rights and responsibilities.
On 6 August, The SC/ST and Equal Opportunity Cell of Vidyashilp University, Bengaluru, organised a session on the POSH Act and Caste and Gender Sensitisation for around 150 students. Adv. Archana from Dhwani Legal Trust introduced the organisation, set the context, provided an overview of the relevant laws, and facilitated interactive activities. Adv. Pooja conducted the POSH session, while Adv. Shraddha led the caste and gender sensitisation session. The highly interactive programme encouraged students to share personal experiences and engage in meaningful discussions.
A panel discussion on “Safe Streets, Shared Cities: Reimagining Urban Spaces for Women and Gendered Minorities” was organised by the Gender Studies Committee, School of Law, Christ (Deemed to be University), Bengaluru, on 12 August 2026. The panel featured Adv. Ashwini Obulesh, Founder-Executive Director, Dhwani Legal Trust and Advocate, High Court of Karnataka; Kavitha Kariappa, Assistant Commissioner of Police, Traffic Division, Bengaluru; and Rajalakshmi R., Learnings & Outcomes Lead, Durga India. Adv. Ashwini Obulesh highlighted the need for safer, more inclusive and accessible public spaces for women and gendered minorities.
On 1 August, ELCITA, in collaboration with Parihar, Bangalore City Police, conducted a POSH awareness session for its ground and maintenance staff at its Operations Office in Electronic City, Bengaluru.
Adv. Archana and Adv. Heena from Dhwani Legal Trust explained the POSH Act in simple Hindi and Kannada, covering workplace harassment, employee rights, complaint procedures, and the importance of a safe work environment.
Dr. Bindya, Joint Secretary and In-Charge of Parihar, also shared valuable insights, making the session interactive and informative.
An interactive session on Constitutional Values was conducted at St. Joseph’s College of Commerce, Bengaluru, on 11 August 2026, for around 350 students by Adv. Archana and Adv. Pooja from Dhwani Legal Trust. The session began with a “Power Walk” activity, helping students understand power, inequality and the need for a Constitution. Discussions covered the making of the Constitution, the Constituent Assembly, key contributions of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar, Jawaharlal Nehru and Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, and the Preamble and its values. Students actively participated through questions and discussions.
On 25th July 2026, in observance of Anti-Human Trafficking Day, Dhwani Legal Trust hosted an interactive public talk and discussion with Brinda Adige on human trafficking, sexual servitude, and the law. Drawing from her experience as a rescuer, she highlighted trafficking's disproportionate impact on marginalized communities and the practical challenges of addressing such cases. She critically examined the legal framing of "immoral trafficking," challenged patriarchal assumptions embedded in law and society, and emphasized that trafficking remains one of the world's most profitable forms of organized crime. Dhwani extends its sincere gratitude to Ms. Brinda Adige and to all the participants for their meaningful engagement.
