10th September, 2026: Live Phone-in programme with Doordarshan Chandana on Child Rights.
A live call-in programme was conducted on 10 September 2026 on DD Chandana, focusing on important issues concerning child rights, protection, and welfare. Adv. Pooja, Associate, Dhwani Legal Trust, participated in the programme as the resource person and addressed various legal and social issues affecting children.
During the programme, Adv. Pooja spoke about the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, highlighting the legal safeguards available to children against sexual abuse and exploitation. She also explained property rights of children, Child Helpline services, and provisions relating to juvenile justice.
Other important topics discussed included child marriage, the Right to Education, and cyberbullying, with emphasis on protecting children from online risks and ensuring their access to education and a safe environment. The programme also covered DPG/BITE and the roles and responsibilities of government officials in safeguarding children and implementing child-protection laws and schemes.
The interactive nature of the programme enabled viewers to directly participate through phone calls and seek clarification on issues affecting children and their families. Callers raised questions on the various topics discussed, and Adv. Pooja provided appropriate legal information and guidance.
The programme helped create awareness about child rights, legal protections, available support services, and the responsibilities of authorities towards ensuring the safety, dignity, and welfare of children.
