A session on Constitutional Values was conducted on 24th August 2026 for around 300 students of St. Joseph’s College of Commerce, Bengaluru.

The session focused on helping students understand the three important organs of the Indian Constitution, the Legislature, the Executive and the Judiciary and their respective roles in the functioning of our democracy.

The session was handled by Adv. Heena and Adv. Archana from Dhwani Legal Trust, who explained the powers, functions, and responsibilities of the three organs in an interactive and student-friendly manner. Special emphasis was placed on how these institutions work together while maintaining a system of checks and balances.

An engaging activity was conducted to help students understand the legislative process. The students were divided into groups and were asked to debate on a proposed Bill and simulate its passage through the Lower House and Upper House, followed by the process of obtaining the President’s assent. This practical exercise enabled the students to understand the journey of a Bill from its introduction to becoming a law.

Another activity focused on the hierarchy of courts in India. Students were asked to identify and arrange the different levels of courts, helping them understand the judicial structure and the role of each court.

The entire session was highly interactive and participatory, with students actively engaging in discussions, debates, and activities.

The session successfully encouraged students to develop a better understanding of constitutional values, democratic institutions, and the functioning of the Indian legal system.
