30th September 2026: Awareness session on POSH organised by National Assessment and Accreditation Council.
On 30th September 2026, Advocate Ashwini Obulesh was invited as the Guest of Honour by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) for a legal awareness session on the Prevention of Sexual Harassment (POSH) framework.
The session provided participants with a comprehensive understanding of sexual harassment, its different forms, and the importance of creating safe and respectful workplaces. Advocate Ashwini Obulesh explained the historical development of the POSH framework in India, including the landmark Vishaka Guidelines and the enactment of the Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace (Prevention, Prohibition and Redressal) Act, 2013.
The session focused on the purpose and significance of the POSH Act, the responsibilities of organisations, and the mechanisms available for addressing complaints of sexual harassment. Particular attention was given to the Internal Complaints Committee (ICC), including its constitution, composition, roles and responsibilities. The importance of confidentiality, sensitivity and a fair procedure while dealing with complaints was also highlighted.
The programme was highly interactive, with participants actively engaging in discussions and seeking clarifications on various aspects of the law and its practical application.
The session helped create greater awareness about prevention, reporting and redressal mechanisms and emphasised the collective responsibility of institutions in ensuring a safe, inclusive and dignified working environment.
