6th August, 2026: Awareness Session on POSH Act and Caste and Gender Sensitisation At Vidyashilp University, Bengaluru.

On 6 August, The SC/ST and Equal Opportunity Cell of Vidyashilp University, Bengaluru, organised an awareness session on the Prevention of Sexual Harassment (POSH) Act and Caste and Gender Sensitisation [a part of Dhwani's Jaa(gru)ti initiative] at its campus for around 150 students.

Adv. Pooja, Adv. Shraddha, and Adv. Archana from Dhwani Legal Trust were invited as resource persons.

The session aimed to build awareness about creating safe, inclusive, respectful and discrimination free educational and workplace environments.

Adv. Archana Casmir introduced Dhwani Legal Trust, set the context for the programme, provided an overview of the legal framework relating to workplace safety, equality, and non-discrimination, and conducted engaging activities to encourage participation and reflection.

Adv. Pooja P led the session on the POSH Act, explaining what constitutes sexual harassment, the rights and responsibilities of individuals, the importance of consent and respectful behaviour, and the mechanisms available for reporting and redressal.

Adv. Shraddha Sunil conducted the session on caste and gender sensitisation, highlighting the impact of stereotypes, prejudice, discrimination and privilege, while encouraging students to recognise unconscious biases and foster inclusivity in their daily interactions.

The session was highly interactive, with students actively participating in discussions, sharing personal experiences, and engaging in practical activities.

Their openness and thoughtful participation made the programme meaningful and impactful, reinforcing the importance of empathy, equality, and accountability in building inclusive communities.
