3rd March, 2026 : Awareness Session on Child Protection and Rights- POSCO, Juvenile Justice Act in Collaboration with Bangalore City Police-Parihar

An awareness session for the students of Obaidullah Government School, Shivajinagar, Bangalore was organized by Bangalore City Police, Parihar in collaboration with Dhwani Legal Trust. The session aimed to create awareness among children about their rights, personal safety, and the legal protections available to them. Adv Archana Casmir, Legal Awareness Coordiantor spoke about child rights and their protection touching upon the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, the Juvenile Justice Act, safe and unsafe touch, how to report an abuse and child helpline services.


During the session, Archana explained to around 100 students and teachers of High School the basic provisions of the POCSO Act and the Juvenile Justice Act, highlighting how these laws protect children from abuse, exploitation, and neglect. The discussion focused on helping students understand what constitutes safe and unsafe touch, how to identify inappropriate behavior, and the importance of speaking up and seeking help from the people they feel safe with like parents, teachers or any other person.


Students were also informed about child rights, including the right to protection, education, dignity, and a safe environment. She also emphasized the importance of respecting boundaries and supporting peers who may be facing difficult situations.


Information about child helpline services (1098) was shared, explaining how children can access immediate help and support if they are in danger or need assistance. The session was interactive, allowing students to ask questions and share their thoughts.


The other speakers on the dais also shared their thoughts regarding child rights and protection available.


Overall, the awareness session helped students gain a better understanding of personal safety, legal protections, and available support systems, encouraging them to protect themselves and seek help when needed.
