31st August, 2025 : PWD Act Awareness Program at Agu Nee Anikethana Foundation

Dhwani, in association with Agu Nee Anikethana Foundation, organized an awareness program on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (PWD Act), focusing on empowering specially-abled individuals through knowledge of their legal rights and opportunities. The event was held at the Foundation’s premises in Karnataka and witnessed enthusiastic participation of nearly 50 individuals, including differently-abled persons, their families, caregivers, and volunteers.

Agu Nee Anikethana Foundation, established as a Trust on 13 November 2020 (Reg. No. 121/13/11/2020), has been working actively in multiple domains such as agriculture, children’s welfare, education and literacy, healthcare, HIV/AIDS awareness, human rights, legal aid, and specifically for the empowerment of differently-abled persons across Koppal, Karnataka.

The session began with a welcome and introduction to the objectives of both Dhwani and the Foundation, after which a detailed discussion on the PWD Act was conducted. Participants were informed about recognition of disabilities under the Act, rights to education, employment opportunities, accessibility in public spaces, and legal safeguards against discrimination. The session was kept interactive, with participants sharing personal experiences and facilitators explaining how the Act could be used as a tool for empowerment. A key highlight was the motivational interactions, where guests and volunteers encouraged participants to focus on their strengths, while symbolic distribution of saplings emphasized the theme of growth and resilience.

The response was highly positive, with participants actively engaging in discussions and expressing increased confidence in approaching opportunities and asserting their rights. The program strengthened awareness, fostered community support, and inspired the specially-abled individuals to pursue self-reliance with greater determination. Documented through photos and videos, the event captured the spirit of inclusivity and empowerment, marking it as a meaningful step in Dhwani’s and Agu Nee Anikethana Foundation’s shared mission of building awareness, dignity, and equal opportunities for people with disabilities.
