20th February, 2026 : Sensitisation session on Caste, Religion, Gender, Sexuality for Volunteers of Reclaim Constitution

A sensitisation session on Caste, Religion, Gender, and Sexuality was conducted at Dhwani Legal Trust by Team Dhwani to a group of 20 volunteers from Reclaim Constitution (IIACD Foundation), an NGO to promote awareness, inclusivity, and mutual respect among participants. The session aimed to address social inequalities, challenge stereotypes, and foster a safe and inclusive environment within the institution/community.


Key Themes Discussed

1. Caste: The session highlighted the historical background of the caste system and its continuing impact on social and economic opportunities. Discussions focused on discrimination, privilege, and the importance of equality and constitutional rights.

2. Religion: The importance of respecting religious diversity and combating prejudice was emphasized. Participants discussed communal harmony, tolerance, and the need to uphold secular principles.

3. Gender: The session addressed gender stereotypes, gender roles, and gender-based discrimination. Topics such as workplace equality, representation, and safety were discussed to encourage gender-sensitive practices.

4. Sexuality: The resource person explained concepts of sexual orientation, gender identity, and LGBTQIA+ inclusion. Emphasis was placed on using respectful language, understanding consent, and creating safe spaces free from discrimination.
