A comprehensive one-day training session on Labour Codes was successfully conducted at the Indian Social Institute by Dhwani Legal Trust in collaboration with India Labour Line. The session was specifically designed for the Case Managers of India Labour Line who deal with with labour cases everyday. The objective of the session was to strengthen the understanding of key labour legislations and enhance capacity to address workers’ concerns effectively.
The session was led by Advocate Ashwini Obulesh, along with Advocate Misbah Shan and Advocate Archana Casmir, all of whom brought their legal expertise into the training space.
The focus of the session was on two significant labour legislations—the Code on Wages, 2019 and the Code on Social Security, 2020. These Codes were discussed in depth, covering their key provisions, practical implications, and relevance in the context of workers’ rights and entitlements.
What made the session particularly impactful was its interactive and participatory approach. The facilitators employed role plays and group discussions to break down complex legal concepts into relatable, real-life scenarios. Participants engaged actively in these exercises, which enabled them to better understand how labour laws operate in practice and how they can be applied in case management.
The training witnessed the participation of 25 Case Managers, all of whom contributed meaningfully to the discussions. The session was marked by a high level of engagement, with participants raising numerous questions, sharing field experiences, and seeking clarifications on nuanced aspects of labour law. This exchange of ideas created a dynamic learning environment and helped bridge the gap between legal theory and on-ground realities.
Overall, the session was both informative and empowering. It not only enhanced the legal knowledge of the participants but also equipped them with practical tools to support workers more effectively.
The collaboration between Dhwani Legal Trust and India Labour Line continues to play a crucial role in building informed and responsive support systems for labour rights.
