14th August, 2025 : Swaatantraya at Midnight: Independence Day Eve Celebrations at R.B.A.N.M.’s School

On the eve of Independence Day, Dhwani was proud to be part of the vibrant celebrations at R.B.A.N.M.’s School, where the spirit of swaatantraya came alive through conversations, art, and community gathering. The school grounds transformed into a space of reflection and celebration, bringing together children, families, performers, and organizations committed to keeping the meaning of freedom alive in everyday life.

At the Dhwani stall, visitors were invited to pause and reflect on the question, “What does Freedom mean to you?”. A large dove mural became a canvas of hopes and dreams, where people wrote their personal meanings of swaatantraya. Postcards and discussions carried forward the message that freedom is not limited to political independence, but extends into dignity, equality, justice, and the right to live without fear. Volunteers engaged with the public, distributing legal awareness materials and creating conversations that connected constitutional rights to daily lived experiences.

The cultural performances brought immense energy and depth to the evening. Children enacted episodes from B.R. Ambedkar’s childhood, powerfully portraying the struggles and resilience that shaped his vision for an equal society. Mime shows and skits spoke to social issues in creative, thought-provoking ways, while music filled the air with joy—bands and solo singers alike drawing the audience into celebration. The blend of theatre, storytelling, and music made the evening both entertaining and deeply reflective.

The event was also a celebration of community. Families, young people, and elders came together, sharing food, laughter, and conversation under the open sky. The camaraderie was palpable, with every performance and every interaction reinforcing the collective spirit of freedom.

As midnight approached, the atmosphere grew more charged. The flag hoisting ceremony marked the culmination of the celebrations, as the tricolor was unfurled amidst cheers and patriotic songs. It was a moment of pride and unity, reminding everyone of the sacrifices of the past and the responsibilities of the present.
