22nd July 2026: Dhwani conducted an Awareness session on Women's Rights and Legal Protection, organised by MAARGA at Koramangala, Bengaluru.


Adv Archana, Legal Awareness Coordinator from Dhwani Legal Trust conducted an awareness session on Women's Rights and Legal Protections was conducted for a group of 20 women in L R Nagar slum, Koramangala. The session was organized by Maarga, an non-governmental organization working with slum communities on issues relating to rights and entitlements, children's education, and community development.


The session focused on creating awareness about key legal protections available to women, including the Protection of Women from Domestic Violence Act, 2005, the Dowry Prohibition Act, 1961, and the Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace (Prevention, Prohibition and Redressal) Act, 2013 (POSH Act). The provisions of these laws, the rights they guarantee, and the remedies available to women were explained in simple and practical terms.


The session was highly interactive, with participants actively engaging in discussions and seeking clarification on various aspects of the law. Several women raised practical questions regarding where complaints could be filed, the authorities responsible for receiving complaints, the procedures involved, and the support available to survivors. These queries were addressed through examples and discussion, helping participants better understand their legal rights and the avenues available for seeking assistance.


Overall, the session was well received and contributed to increasing awareness of women's legal rights while encouraging participants to seek support and access legal remedies when required.
