Right to Education Campaigns
Dhwani Legal Trust conducted a ‘Right to Education (RTE) Campaign’ during the months of March and April, 2021 when RTE admissions in Karnataka were taking place. This Campaign was in line with the spirit behind Article 21A of the Constitution of India and the Right to Education Act, 2009, that declare that right to education is a fundamental right, and that every child in the age-group of 6-14 years is entitled to free and compulsory education.
This RTE Campaign was a state-wide campaign with particular focus on these cities – Bengaluru, Bellari, Davangere, Mysuru and Kalburgi, in association with several passionate organisations and individuals. We organised awareness programmes about the RTE Act in these cities through conducting autorickshaw campaigns across select wards and distributing pamphlets and brochures on the right to education, the admission process, etc. We also assisted parents in enrolling their children into schools in select corporation wards in these cities, and securing admissions under the RTE Act for the academic year 2021-22.
Our deepest gratitude to actor and activist Chetan Ahimsa for being a part of our Campaign and passionately advocating the right to education to all children. We would also like to thank Subramanya M. for providing his voice for all the autorickshaw campaigns, and also for editing our RTE Campaign Video.
We hope that our Right to Education Campaigns pave the way for all children to acquire quality education, overcoming the barriers of caste and economic status of their families, further facilitating a more egalitarian society.
